There is much confusion out there concerning the new "Creation" and "Tradition" bridges from Aubert.
We scanned a few online
Luthier discussion sites recently and found that many of the
explanations being discussed were based somewhere between half truth
and outright wild speculation. We particularly enjoyed one posting that
suggested alcohol might have been involved in the design process.
Sadly the truth is a little less sensational.
The "Creation" Cello Bridge:
Has a thicker body and feet and smaller
heart and kidneys allowing it to be used on just about any hard to fit
cello top, particularly on older instruments. Aubert tells us that it is
designed especially for the most demanding luthiers. (Nova wonders if
there is any other kind?)
The "Tradition" Cello Bridge:
Has a thinner body and less mass in general allowing for a speedier setup.
What's Available?
Both
of these bridges are available in the following grades:
Mirecourt
(#16) in 90mm French style.
Luxe (#18) in 90mm French style.
De Luxe (#18L) in 90mm French style.
The Creation bridges are also available in
De Luxe (#18L) in 90mm and 92mm in both French and Belgian.
